Oh Hey There!
The time has rolled around once
again where I have my winter school holidays & what a better way then
spending it with my amazing friends! On Thursday this week 8 of us headed down
to Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast of QLD for a coffee & catch up.
Being locals we know where to
get the best coffee along the café & shop strip. My friends & family
currently can’t decide whether it’s Blackwater Trading co. (1) or Sunny’s at Moffat’s (2). We decided on this particular day we’d hit up Blackwater Trading
co. I ordered my usual ‘a cup of skinny flat white, no sugar’. My ‘cup’ was
just the perfect size I would have been bouncing off the walls if I’d ordered
the mug - I decided after seeing my friend’s drinks. The table service is
always great! We had a lovely lady who could pull off a really cute purple
pixie hair cut. Also the fresh cut flowers were a lovely.
Afterwards we grabbed some chips
& calamari from The Fish Bowl (3). To tell you the truth the only people
who would ever buy fish & chips from there are tourists and teenagers- the locals
don’t eat there, if you click the link you'll understand why. My friends & myself being teenagers will eat their cause
it’s cheap + we’ll eat anything covered in gravy. We take the soggy chips
& calamari down to the beach & eat either sitting on the rock retaining
wall or at a free seagull poo covered bench – In the latter case I usually opt
for the clean green grassy ground.
After eating our body weight in
deep fried food & gravy we walked along the rock pools (4 - along the beach about 100m) near the
headland. You can see the surfers in the water & the little creatures scuttling
in the pools. After one to many wet items of clothing from rough waves or
misplaced footing, returning to the beach with a sore ass is probably the
safest and less painful option.
After 30 minutes of trying to
teach my how to blow a chewing gum bubble my friends gave up & just as they
started to walk away... then I did it! Yay!
I can now inform you I am
proficient in the art of splattering gum all over ones face.
I hope you enjoyed getting an insight
into my local area & day, if you would like to read maybe something similar
about other day trips or places on the Sunshine coast let me know in the
comments. If you wanna stalk me you can follow me on Instagram @rileyjxo, I
will follow back if you mention in a comment that you’ve read this blog post.
I would love to hear about more day trips of yours, as well as some photos too. Being from the UK, Australia is a far flung place for me, one I hope to visit some day, but will explore through the lives of others for the time being. Thanks for sharing your day!
